Abia 2019: No automatic ticket for Ikpeazu, others – PDP

Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said there would be no automatic ticket for its members planning to contest in the 2019 general election.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, said all those aspiring for elective positions would be given a level playing field irrespective of the personalities involved. He did not exempt the incumbent governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

According to Onuigbo, the decision was taken during the state working committee meeting held in Umuahia, the State capital on Thursday.

He stressed that the party in the state has resolved to put a stop to imposition and impunity in the party.

He said: “The party has declared that all offices for 2019 general election are open and contestable in line with the Abia charter of equity and PDP zoning formula.

“We urge all our party faithful to remain loyal, steadfast and continue to have confidence in party leadership.”
