Plateau govt debunks Gov Mutfwang’s rumoured defection to YPP

The Plateau State Government has dismissed as untrue, social media claims suggesting that Governor Caleb Mutfwang has defected to the Young Progressives Party (YPP).

The Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Gyang Bere, described the claim as a “blatant lie” and a “shameless concoction” aimed at destabilizing the unity and trust of Plateau residents.

“Ordinarily, such baseless rumors would not merit a response. However, to protect the public from being misled, the Governor’s office felt compelled to clarify that the Governor has not, at any point, defected to any political party, including the YPP,” Bere said.

He added that the disinformation is being spread by individuals with “self-serving motives detrimental to the collective wellbeing of the State.”

Bere further reassured the public that any legitimate political development involving Governor Mutfwang would be communicated transparently through verified official channels.

“Where and when there is any change in status, be assured that Governor Mutfwang will utilize official communication avenues to inform the people of Plateau State,” he emphasised.

“The governor remains fully focused on delivering on his administration’s commitments to the people,” he added.
