Joe Igbokwe mounts campaign against release of IPoB leader, Nnamdi Kanu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has urged the Federal government not to bow to pressure and release Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Igbokwe, an unapologetic critic of the IPOB leader, made the call in a series of posts on his Facebook page on Thursday, insisting that Kanu is a terrorist who hoodwinked his followers to kill thousands of Igbo people through his utterances and orders and as such, does not deserves any pardon or soft landing.

In one of the post, the former Senior Special Assistant on Drainage to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said a man who could instigate the killing of his people should be made to face the full weight of the law.

“A man who lead Igbo young men and women to kill our people in 10 years, burnt our homes, stole our wives, closed our markets and businesses, etc, does not deserve pity or pardon.”

Igbokwe, who also waded into the controversy surrounding Kanu’s health which his lawyers are using as an argument for his release from detention, said the IPoB leader is not sick.

According to Igbokwe, Kanu’s lawyers are just using the illness angle as a ruse to have him freed.

“Let me drop this here this morning for all Igbo in Nigeria and diaspora to know. Nnamdi Kanu is 110% ok. Let us not deceive ourselves. Let us speak the truth for once and shame the devil. Nnamdi killed our people in thousands and businesses. They are saying he is sick. He is not sick at all. All these claims about his health is a lie from the pit of hail.”

Igbokwe who also spoke on the upcoming #FreeNnamdiKanu protest organized by human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore scheduled for October 20th, called on the former presidential candidate to shelve the idea and not to dabble into the matter as it would amount to spitting on the graves of thousands of Igbos killed on Kanu’s instructions.

“I want the world to hear my voice. Those who know Sowore well should tell him not to march and spit on the grave of thousands Igbo who were killed on Nnamdi Kanu’s instructions from 2015 to 2025. The colossal damage in Lagos is still there.

“Kanu deserves no pity, only the fair treatment our constitution guarantees, so he can face justice for every crime he’s accused of. The rule of law must never be selective. He incited violence against Nigeria and Nigerians, and he must answer for it,” he said.
