Outrage has trailed a video circulating on social media showing bruises allegedly inflicted on a pupil by her teacher at a private school in Abakpa Nike, Enugu State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Monday, has drawn widespread condemnation from Nigerians who demand justice for the child.
In the viral clip, the pupil’s mother was seen crying and calling for the teacher to be produced, while bystanders urged her to remain calm and repeatedly demanded that the teacher be brought out.
The distraught mother claimed she was alerted by a phone call to come to the school after her child was allegedly flogged to the point of being unable to walk.
“I want to show you people my baby’s wound. Are you seeing what a teacher did to my child?” She said amid tears.
As at the time of filing this report, there had not been an official response from the school or the Enugu State Ministry of Education.
