National grid sheds 12.32% power as Minister Adelabu indicates interest in Oyo guber race

The quantum of electricity available on Nigeria’s national grid dropped to 5,128.50 megawatts as of October 2025.

This is according to recent national grid performance data released by the Nigerian Independent System Operator.

The figure is a 12.32 percent drop compared to the peak of 5,801.84 megawatts recorded on March 4, 2025.

The development further showed that power supply has not improved in the last months for estimated 250 million Nigerians.

On September 10, 2025, the national grid collapsed but was restored hours later.

While the country continues to grapple with epileptic electricity supply, the Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu, recently declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027.
