Eze Aro felicitates Asagba of Asaba on coronation first anniversary

Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, His Eminence Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, has congratulated the Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Epiphany Azinge (SAN), on the occasion of his first anniversary on the throne.

The Arochukwu monarch, in a statement from the Royal Palace, said Obi Azinge’s one year on the throne exemplifies God’s plan for the people of Asaba, and in fact, Delta State.

Obi Azinge, a former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), was crowned on October 5, 2024, as the 14th Asagba of Asaba Kingdom, Delta State.

His ascension to the throne followed his emergence as Asagba-designate of Asaba during an enlarged meeting of Asagba-in-Council and members of the kingdom, after a selection process by the five quarters of the kingdom held on August 18, 2024.

Specifically, Azinge was crowned by the Onihe of Asaba (the traditional chief priest of the kingdom), Chief Ubaka Attoh, after the staff of office and the keys of the Ogwu-Uku were handed over to him.

Thereafter, Obi Azinge had paid glowing tribute to his deceased predecessor, the 13th Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, describing him as a father-figure to him.

He promised to make justice and fairness to all as the pillar of his leadership.

In his congratulatory message, Eze Eberechukwun Oji said:

“On behalf of my family and the Royal Palace, I wish to convey the warm felicitations of the entire people of Arochukwu Kingdom to Your Majesty as you celebrate the first anniversary of your coronation as the 14th Asagba of Asaba.

“I am pleased to note that, in your first year on the throne, you have kept your vow to make justice and fairness the pillars of your reign.

“Your leadership in the past year has brought renewed pride to the Asaba Kingdom and inspired confidence in traditional institutions across the country. Without any iota of doubt, you have demonstrated commitment to the values of peace, inclusiveness, and development.

“As an accomplished academic and respected traditional ruler, you have brought honour not only to the Asaba Kingdom but also to the entire Delta State.”

“While wishing you a successful reign on the throne, we pray God Almighty to give you good health, and avail you more wisdom to lead the good people of Asaba Kingdom,” Eze Aro said.
