Retired soldiers of the Nigerian Army, on Thursday, resumed protests in Abuja over the Federal government’s failure to pay their long-overdue entitlements.
The ex-servicemen had suspended demonstrations on August 4 after assurances from the Ministries of Defence and Finance that payments would be released by August 10.
But the veterans returned to the streets, accusing officials of failing to honour the pledge.
They converged on the Ministry of Finance headquarters, where they decried what they described as neglect and betrayal.
“We are here because the promises made to us were never fulfilled. We had no choice but to return to the streets. This time around, the protest will be massive,” one of the protesters said.
