The Federal government has hailed the conviction of separatist agitator and leader of the Autopilot faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa, as a major victory for the Nigerian people.
Ekpa was found guilty of inciting terrorism and tax fraud by a Finnish District Court and sentenced to six years’ imprisonment.Reacting to the ruling via his X account, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described Ekpa’s conviction a victory for Nigerians in the fight against terror.
“We welcome the news of Simon Ekpa’s conviction by a Finnish court for terrorism-related crimes and his sentencing to six years in prison. A major victory for the Nigerian people in the collective fight against terror,” the minister wrote.
