* Says PH Refinery products not yet on sale
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has dismissed as untrue, rife speculation of reduction in the prices of products from the Port Harcourt Refinery
The State-owned oil company issued the rebuttal late Friday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Olufemi Soneye.
The rebuttal was against the backdrop of an earlier claim by the President of Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association (PETROAN), Dr. Billy Harry.
The PETROAN leader had claimed during a strategic meeting and award event in Abuja, that NNPCL has lowered the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for marketers, reducing it from N1,045 to N1,030 per litre.
Harry had said: “Today, NNPCL has reduced their price to N1,030,” and expressed hope for further price reductions in the future.
“We are still hoping and pushing that it will come down even lower,” he added.
However, Soneye, through the Friday night statement, clarified thus:
“The Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) has not yet commenced bulk sales or opened its purchase portal, as essential processes are still being finalized.
“Currently, the products we are selling originate from the Dangote Refinery and include applicable NMDPRA fees. Products from PHRC are exclusively for our retail stores at this stage. Our pricing is reviewed and adjusted periodically as necessary to reflect operational realities.
“We advise the public to disregard any misleading information regarding pricing. Official announcements will be made if and when price reviews occur. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” the statement added.
