Abia LP disowns Abure’s primary election committee, warns aspirants

The Chairman of Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, Mr. Emmanuel Nweze Oti, has disowned a list of committee members reportedly constituted by the Julius Abure faction of the party to oversee the conduct of the party’s primaries before the November 2 local government elections.

Abure, according to unconfirmed reports, had announced the constitution of a committee to be headed by Ceekay Igara, the former Chairman of LP in Abia for the task.

But speaking to FLO 94.9 FM in Umuahia, State Secretary of the party, Rev Andrew Ohiagba, disowned the Abure story, urging LP members to ignore the purported announcement.

Ohiagba said the State Working Committee (SWC) was not consulted before the purported committee was set up.

He further warned the public against dealing with anyone outside the rightly constituted State leadership of Labour Party, led by Emmanuel Nweze Oti.

Also speaking on the development, the Publicity Secretary of the party in Abia, Njoku Ajike, confirmed that sales of forms have commenced, urging aspirants to visit the party Secretariat and disregard any other announcement to that effect that did not emanate from either office of the State Publicity Secretary or the party’s acting Chairman.
