First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has come under heavy criticism for launching a National Unity Fabric under the One Nigeria Initiative amid the economic crisis ravaging the country.
Mrs. Tinubu launched the National Unity Fabric on Monday and made a cash presentation of N25 million to Miss Mofiyinfoluwa during a ceremony that held at the State House, Abuja.
According to Mrs. Tinubu, the project is designed to foster creativity, enhance unity and love, support local enterprises to boost the nation’s economy. She announced that the selected best fabric would be used officially on October 1, during Nigeria’s independence celebration.
Public reaction to the initiative has been varied and mixed. While some view it as an early strategic move, others express concern over its timing, especially in the light of collective dissatisfaction with her husband’s administration’s and its policies, which have exacerbated their hardship.
