Tinubu appoints Lagos ex-commissioner Tunji Bello as CEO of FCCPC


President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Olatunji Bello as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), subject to Senate confirmation.

‘Tunji Bello, as he is fondly called, is a lawyer and journalist, and had served in Lagos State as Commissioner for Environment under Babatunde Fashola’s administration. He later served as Secretary to the State Government during the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Bello holds a Master’s Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), having been called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

His career in journalism began at Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he held pivotal roles including Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord.

Bello was a recipient of the prestigious US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and later assumed the post of Chairman of the Editorial Board at THISDAY Newspapers in 2001.

President Tinubu also expressed confidence that Bello will effectively lead the FCCPC, emphasizing the agency’s critical mission to safeguard the interests and well-being of Nigerian consumers, saying he expects robust measures under Bello’s leadership to uphold the quality and safety standards of goods and services nationwide.
