Olympic Games: Organizers to gift Paris 2024 athletes 300,000 condoms

After Tokyo 2020, with contact restrictions to stop the COVID-19 pandemic, the strict health policy of the Olympic Games is back and Paris 2024 will distribute 300,000 condoms to athletes, twice as many as London 2012, but far from the record set by Rio 2016.

A record threatening 300,000 condoms will be made available for athletes at the forthcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

This is twice the number for London 2010 but far from the record set by Rio 2016 in Brazil. There was a reduction at Tokyo 2020 held in 2021 owing to strict contact restrictions.

The director of the Paris 2024 Olympic Village, Laurent Michaud, has revealed on Sky News that 300,000 condoms will be available for the more than 14,000 athletes and coaches.

“It’s very important that the conviviality here is something big,” Michaud told Britain’s Sky News.

On the average, this is 20 condoms per person in the Olympic Village.

At Rio, the IOC distributed 450,000 normal condoms,  100,000 female condoms and 175,000 bottles of lubricant.

That was an average of almost 40 condoms per athlete.
