Economic hardship: Sex workers threaten to commence strike Feb 28 unless…

Commercial sex workers in Edo State have announced plans to embark on strike starting on February 28, 2024 in demonstration of their displeasure over continuous increase in prices of goods and services in the country.

The Publicity Director, Association of Prostitute in Nigeria (APN), Edo State branch, Jennifer Osas, noted that though the ongoing crisis within the association would not deter them from embarking on strike next week, they have resolved to express their grievances over the untold hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

She stressed that the high cost of living across the country has seriously affected their patronage, adding that many of their members can no longer afford to take care of their families.

Furthermore, she affirmed that it became necessary to let the whole nation and world know what they have been passing through since Tinubu assumed office as president.

While narrating how the strike will be carried out, Osas said that unless something urgent is done to arrest the situation, they would move across major streets in Benin City and eventually land at the Government House where they would address Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Meanwhile, effort to get copy of the letter to the Nigeria Police, and Department of States Security (DSS) proved abortive, as she claimed that they are yet to get response from the security agencies for permission.
