Sanwo-Olu schedules media chat for Thursday, to address economic hardship

The Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, scheduled to hold a chat with journalists on Thursday over the current economic realities in the country.

The governor, in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, said it is important as the chief economic and security officer of the state, to share some key policy changes for the welfare of all Lagosians.

He noted that the steps the State is taking from enhancing food security to bolstering health and infrastructure, reflect the government’s commitment to the welfare of the people.

Sanwo-Olu’s post read: “Dear Lagosians, as we navigate the unique economic realities in the country, it is important as the chief economic and security officer of our State to share some key policy changes for the welfare of all Lagosians.

“From enhancing food security to bolstering health and infrastructure, these steps reflect our commitment to your welfare Tomorrow at 11:15 am., I will be having a Media Chat with Journalists from Channels TV, Arise, TVC, and LTV.

“It will also be live on Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1 FM and Eko FM 89.7. In navigating these times, resilience, creative thinking, and safety are paramount.

“Your steadfastness is appreciated as we work together for a stronger Lagos and Nigeria.”

Some policies by the Federal government such as the petrol subsidy removal, and the unification of the exchange rates have seen the nation’s economy suffer some shock, with the currency being in a free fall.

With the prevailing economic challenges, prices of commodities continue to skyrocket, making it difficult for many Nigerians to feed.

The development has since caused protests in some states like Niger and Oyo, with fear of the agitation spreading to other states.
