The police in Lagos have arrested Afrobeat singer, Singer Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, over the recent death of another singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad.
The police speokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on Tuesday evening.
“Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” the Lagos police image maker confirmed in a short statement released on X.
Earlier, Naira Marley confirmed he had arrived in Lagos to assist in the ongoing probe.
He wrote: “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.
“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
Mohbad died on September 12 at the age 27 years.
His remains were buried, but later exhumed for proper forensic autopsy.
