We paid warder N50K each to aid our escape from prison, robbery suspects drop bombshell

The Police in Lagos have arrested a warder attached to the Kirikiri Custodial Centre in Lagos State, Kayode Fatombi, for assisting some armed robbery suspects to escape the custodial center.

However, after the suspects escaped, they were tracked and caught and during interrogation, they confessed that they bribed the warder money to aid their escape.

The suspects confessed that they paid him N50,000 each.

Investigations later revealed that the warder, Kayode Fatombi, allowed the suspects to escape when he was leading them out of the prison under the pretence that he was taking them somewhere.

He claimed that the suspects overpowered him and ran away while he was leading them out.

The warder has been dismissed and he will be arraigned soon. However, it was revealed that the warder provided some of the information the police used to arrest the suspects. The two suspects are expected to undergo trial for their escape from prison, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
