President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate requesting the confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read the letter at plenary on Tuesday.
The President’s request comes three weeks after he appointed the new Service Chiefs on June 19, 2023.
The Service Chiefs awaiting screening and confirmation include Nuhu Ribadu – National Security Adviser (NSA); Maj. Gen. C.G Musa – Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); Maj. Gen T. A Lagbaja – Chief of Army Staff (CoAS); Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla – Chief of Naval Staff; AVM H.B Abubakar – Chief of Air Staff; and Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye – Chief of Defense Intelligence.
Tinubu also appointed IGP Kayode Egbetokun as the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Adeniyi Adewale as the Acting Comptroller General (C-G) of Customs.
Akpabio said since the relevant Standing Committees of the Senate are not in place yet, the Service Chiefs would be screened by the Committee of the Whole of the Senate.
