There were strong reasons Thursday evening to believe that President Bola Tinubu may have appointed out-going Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff (CoS).
Although there were reports earlier on Thursday suggesting his appointment, the report had generated a controversy in some quarters, where it was labeled ‘fake news’.
But Gbajabiamila himself, when accosted by a journalist on Thursday, did not confirm or deny the report of his appointment.
He only told the journalist to be patient, stressing that the system works in its own way.
Nonetheless, a report had claimed that Gbajabiamila was introduced as the new Chief of Staff at the meeting between Tinubu and Security Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, which seemingly gave it credence.
Yet, a formal announcement is still being awaited on the matter.
