President Muhammadu Buhari and the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, have expressed their condolences to the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, over the loss of his wife, Ifeoma Ada Kalu.
Buhari, through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, urged Kalu as well as the late Ifeoma’s family to trust God for comfort in their time of grief.
“President Muhammadu Buhari sympathizes with former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, over the death of his wife, Ifeoma Ada Kalu, 61.
“The President commiserates with Sen. Kalu and Ifeoma’s family, friends and associates, urging trust in God for comfort and care during the very difficult period of pain and deep reflection.
“President Buhari believes the testimonies of the late wife’s fear of God and charity should provide strength for the family, knowing that she lived well, and served the will of the Almighty.
“The President prays for the repose of her soul, and fortitude for the family to bear the loss,” the statement reads.
On his part, Tinubu also sympathised with Senator Kalu over the passage of his first wife.
While noting that the death of a loved one, such as a wife, is painful and saddening, the President-elect urged the former Governor of Abia State to accept the loss as the will of God.
“Please be consoled by the memories of the good time you both shared and the fact that the late Mrs. Ifeoma Kalu lived most of her life in the service of God and humanity,” the President-elect said through a statement issued from his office on Monday.
He prayed that God Almighty console Senator Kalu, the children and all those left behind by the deceased and grant her soul eternal rest.
