Sylva resigns as minister, to join Bayelsa governorship race

There are speculations that the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, may have resigned from office in compliance with the Electoral Act, to contest the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State.

However, Sylva’s resignation is reportedly being kept from the public by powerful elements in the presidential villa so he can return to office as minister, should he fail to clinch the ticket of his party, the APC, at the primary election.
