The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will, at 4pm today, resume the collation of last Saturday’s Abia governorship election results.
INEC, on Monday, announced the suspension of the collation of the Abia governorship results after thugs invaded its offices in Obingwa Local Government Area on Sunday, March 19, 2023, and held officials collating election results hostage.
However, the Abia Head of Voter Education and Publicity of INEC, Mrs. Rebecca Jim, said the collation of results would resume this Wednesday
“The collation resumes by 4pm at the Commission’s Media centre,” she said.
Rebecca said the Presiding Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Professor Nnenna Oti; and the State Administrative Secretary, Clement Oha, who were invited to the INEC headquarters in Abuja, over the controversy from the Obingwa results, were on their way back to the State, to complete the process.
In Enugu,INEC says collation of results of the governorship election in the State will continue at 5pm today (Wednesday).
Peoples Democratic Party’s Peter Mbah and Labour Party’s Chijioke Edeoga are in tight race to emerge the Governor-elect of the Southeastern state.
