Polls: INEC to resume collation of results in Lagos, Ogun on Sunday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Saturday evening that it will resume collation of results for the governorship elections in Lagos and Ogun states on Sunday morning (today).

Collation of results for the Lagos governorship election was, on Saturday evening, postponed to 11 am on Sunday due to non-arrival of any results from the local government areas (LGAs).

The exercise would be held at the Lagos Collation Centre within the INEC office.

Similarly, the Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Niyi Ijalaye, had announced the suspension of collation of the governorship and House of Assembly election results, adding that the exercise would resume by 9am on Sunday.

Ijalaye said the development became imperative in view of destruction of materials and attacks on officers of the Commission.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, confirmed the arrest of some suspects in connection with attempts to truncate the electoral process.
