Seplat passes vote of confidence in CEO, debunks racism allegation against Nigerian workers

Seplat Energy Plc has disclosed that the company’s board unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Mr. Roger Brown on Wednesday, while debunking allegations published in the media against its CEO.

A section of the news media claimed that Brown’s work permit and visa have been revoked by the Ministry of Interior following allegations of racism and discrimination.

The Nigeria-focused energy company said the allegations were “a spurious and vindictive reaction to the enforcement of corporate governance standards in the company.”

The London-listed company said Brown continues to discharge his duties as CEO from the company’s U.K office.

Shares at 0847 GMT were down 2.50 pence, or 2.1%, at 115 pence.
