The Osun State Election Petition Tribunal has fixed January 27, 2023 to deliver judgment in the petition filed against Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by his predecessor in office, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeleke was declared winner of the governorship election held on July 16, 2022. He was sworn in as governor on November 27.
Dissatisfied with the outcome of the election, Oyetola dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) together with Adeleke and PDP before the tribunal claiming over-voting in 749 polling units, upon which he is seeking Adeleke’s qualification, and sacking from the Government House.
The sitting was concluded 11 days ago after adoption of final written addresses of parties involved.
The chairman of the panel, Justice Tertse Kume then declared that the judgment date would be communicated to parties through the lawyers.
On Tuesday, a notice by the tribunal fixed January 27 judgment. The notice has been pasted on the board at the entrance of the tribunal hall.
Signed by the tribunal secretary, David Umaru, the notice reads: “Petition number, EPT/OS/GOV/01/2022 between Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola and Other ADEGBOYEGA ISIAKA and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and two others, the judgment shall hold on Friday 27th January 2023 at 9am.”
