Artisans and traders in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State have pledged support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran aka Jandor.
They made the promise when Jandour visited them in their various constituencies and assured that he would improve their businesses and standard of living, stressing that he would not renege on the promises he made to them if he is elected governor in the forthcoming election.
He noted that most businesses are collapsing because the government in power failed to provide social amenities that would enhance them.
Some of the communities he visited include Imota, Agbede, Mechanic Village Aleke, Layiode, Elepe, Igbogbo, Lejina et cetera.
The complaint of residents of the communities was the same, lack of good roads, public schools, markets, clinics and other social infrastructure.
he traders and residents of the communities said they were impressed with the visit of Jandor and Funke Akindele, his running mate because no politician of importance has ever visited them, lamenting that they don’t even know the councillor representing their wards.
It will be recalled that when Akindele visited the Ikorodu market to sell her party to the traders, they were excited to see her, and the traders swarm around her, as some of them abandoned their wares to welcome her.
Some of the traders who spoke with journalists said that they were happy to see her physically, pointing out that for her to have visited them, they were impressed and they would mobilise voters to vote for her and her principal during the election.
Akindele while campaigning to the traders urged them to vote Jandor because he has better programmes for them and thrt he has empowerment programmes that would improve their businesses.
A leader of the artisan in Elepe Mr. Ademuyiwa Zaka, said he and members of his association appreciate Jandor’s visit, but he should not renege on the promises he made to them.
“The promise you made to us, please try and fulfill them. Have us in mind when you get to office. Since you deemed it fit to visit us, we would mobilised votes for you, but don’t neglect us when you get to office as the governor of the state, and also give our businesses patronage, this is the only way you can help us,” he said.
The PDP candidate in his response said, he deemed it fit to visit the electorate where they reside, to know the challenges they are facing, so to be able to have interaction with him, so that they would know the person who wants to be their governor.
He said that his major assignment when he gets into office would be to fix the problems confronting residents of the State.
