Ikpeazu threatens to invoke ‘no-work, no-pay’ against striking Abia workers

Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has threatened to invoke the “no work, no pay” rule as State policy.

The governor’s threat was conveyed through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Chris Ezem, in which he expressed concern at the adoption of strike by some government establishments as the only way of pushing their demands.

He described strikes as counterproductive.

Ikpeazu stressed that though the government is ready to pay all workers their entitlements, it would resist any attempt by politicians to blackmail and undermine the well-being of innocent citizens by politicizing workers’ welfare.
