MAO Ohuabunwa hails NYSC as medium of national unity, cohesion

A former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Senator of the 8th Senate and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Abia North, Senator MAO Ohuabunwa, has described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as a veritable medium for achieving national integration, cohesion and unity.

The vocal senator made the remark during the National Youth Service Corps Cultural Festival held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Umunnato, Bende Local Government Area.

He noted that the scheme established in 1974 has unified the country and brought peace amongst young graduates of tertiary institutions across the country. Ohuabunwa, therefore, admonished the corps members not to derail the government’s intention of establishing the scheme.

He commended organisers of the event, as well as the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Barr Philip Okey Igwe, for hosting the event.

Highlight of the occasion was the marriage cultural display performed by the corps members.
