Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has sympathized with families of victims of the boat mishap that occurred in Umunnankwo community in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Reports say several people are still unaccounted for in the incident, though search is still ongoing.
Occupants of the ill-fated boat were said to be on their way to Nkwo Ogbakuba when it capsized by Umunankwo Ossomala Bridge and more than 10 persons drowned.
“This development is still a shock to the government and good people of Anambra State. I sympathize with the families of people involved.” Governor Soludo said
While regretting the incident, Soludo further stated that several interventions have been sent by government to various IDP camps within the State.
He assured that government will continue to do its best to reduce the negative effects of the flood disaster.
