…As Soludo vows to bring culprits to justice
Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has vowed that the murderers of Cyril Chiegboka and Hon Okechukwu Okoye will not go unpunished.
Soludo made the declaration when he paid his last respect to the late Cyril Chiegboka, who was killed last month alongside his boss, Hon Okechukwu Okoye, the lawmaker who represented Aguata II Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
The governor also confirmed the arrest of four suspects linked to the gruesome murder of the duo.
Gunmen kidnapped both men on May 15, and their dismembered bodies found one week later.
A Requiem Mass in honour of the late Chiegboka held at St. Paul’s Outstation, Isuofia, and was celebrated by the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia, Most Reverend Peter Okpalaeke.
Revealing that criminals who held parts of the State hostage especially in the South Senatorial zone, are gradually being rounded up, the governor urged the residents to partner his government by volunteering useful information through the telephone numbers released to the public for that purpose.
The governor also stressed that the duo of Okoye and Chiegboka, as well as others who paid the ultimate price, will not die in vain.
He called on the church to resist the ascendancy of idolatry practice, which he said is evidently gaining ground across communities in the State.
Soludo said that findings reveal that youths are being indoctrinated into idol worship and sworn to oath before such idols, which propels them into criminal activities.
The governor consoled the Chiegboka family and the entire Isuofia community, expressing optimism that in no distant time, the criminals will be fully routed out and Anambra, and the State will witness peace and tranquility again.
In his homily, Bishop Okpalaeke who proclaimed the judgment of God upon the murderers, said the late Chiegboka was a well known man who excelled in several engagements.
The remains of the late Cyril Chiegboka was later committed to mother earth.
