Tinubu not afraid to face Jonathan for APC presidential ticket, says Faleke

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has reacted to reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan might contest in the APC presidential primary election.

Tinubu’s reaction was articulated by the founder of Tinubu Support Group, Mr. James Faleke.

Faleke said: “Tinubu is not afraid of Jonathan running against him for the party’s presidential ticket.”

It was reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had granted Jonathan a waiver to contest the party’s presidential primary slated for Sunday, May 29.

Faleke said he is confident of Tinubu’s victory provided that the primary is conducted in a free and fair manner.

The lawmaker and founder of Tinubu Support Group said a transparent primary election would be a condition for people not to leave the party.

He added that those supporting Jonathan and visiting him are free to do so, adding that it is the right of the former Nigerian leader to join the party, and to contest.

“For us, we are still very confident of victory in a free and fair election whether Jonathan is brought in or not; we are confident. It is the right of Jonathan to join our party and to contest.

“As to whether the party will go back and praise Jonathan is another ball game. We are not afraid. We have our capacity. Let the process be free and fair. That is the only thing that can make this party great.

“What we expect is for our party to follow the Electoral Act. It is the personal right of those visiting him to do.”
