Train attack: Kidnapped bank MD regains freedom from terrorists

The Managing Director of Bank of Agriculture (BoA), Alwan Ali-Hassan, was on Wednesday set free by terrorists who attacked the Kaduna-bound train and abducted several passengers.

The attack left eight passengers dead, while several were taken away by the terrorists, among them Ali-Hassan. He spent nine days with his abductors, before he was set free.

Unofficial report claims that the BoA boss was released after his family paid an undisclosed amount as ransom.

An official of the bank confirmed the release, saying the MD has regained his freedom and reunited with his family in Kaduna.

As at last night, neither the police nor Kaduna State government had reacted to the development.

Ali-Hassan would be the first victim among the more than 160 passengers still missing aboard the ill-fated train to be released. The terrorists had bombed the rail track of the Kaduna-bound train from Abuja, between Katari and Rijana, on March 28 and abducted almost half of the passengers.
