Nigerian returnees from Ukraine will get $100 each, FG declares

The Federal government has resolved to hand out $100 to each Nigerian returnee from Ukraine to meet their immediate financial challenges.

The decision was made public through a statement by the Head of Media and Public Relations, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mr. Abdur-Rahman Balogun, in Abuja.

The first batch of 450 Nigerians stranded in Ukraine returned home from Romania through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Balogun said the returnees – mostly students – arrived in Nigeria aboard Max Air flight 747 at 7:10 am on Friday.

He, however, said that the evacuees from Poland could not return on Thursday because their flight was rescheduled for Friday, to arrive Abuja at 2.30 pm.

He added that Air Peace left on Thursday to pick the passengers from Hungary, and was expected to arrive Abuja at 4.30 pm.
