Police authorities have summoned a policeman seen in a viral video carrying a plate of food for a lady – supposedly a Very Important Personality (VIP) – at a party, which held recently in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The police have asked the officer to report at the headquarters in Abuja, while a probe has reportedly been instituted on the video clip.
The Force warned all its personnel attached to VIPs across the country not to detract from their core duty of providing security for their principal.
The Acting Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, reportedly confirmed that the officer has been identified and summoned to Abuja.
Adejobi, who refused to reveal the identity of the officer, however said:
“He (the policeman) has been identified. He is coming to Abuja to meet us. We’ll ask him questions and take necessary action. We need to discourage such a thing because it is embarrassing the image of the Force and we can’t continue to condone that kind of a thing because it is highly unprofessional.”
The aid policeman is attached to Nimota Akanbi, Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the Netherlands, and now Chairman, National Senior Secondary Education Commission.
