Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammad Musa Bello, has commended corps members for their role during the just concluded area council elections.
He made the commendation during the passing out parade of the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members deployed to the FCT.
The minister, who was represented by Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat and Chairman, NYSC FCT Governing Board, Hadiza Mohammed Kabir, affirmed that the corps members displayed commitment and hard work towards the socio-economic development of the FCT.
The minister urged them to take seriously the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training during their service year, in order to become employers of labour.
In his address, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Alhaji Suleman Abdul, called on Nigerians to join the clarion call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund, which has passed the second reading at the National Assembly.
He said the Trust Fund will reduce the burden on the government and provide millions of jobs for youths with start-up capital for entrepreneurship training.
He pointed out that two corps members of the 3,311 who rounded off received awards for outstanding performance during the service year.
However, no fewer than 55 corps members are also to be sanctioned for nonconformity with the NYSC Bye-Laws.
