ABSU bans students from driving private cars on campus

The Management of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has banned the use of personal vehicles by students and flagrant display of wealth on campus.

In a terse memo by the registrar, Acho Elendu, the institution said henceforth, “only staff and accredited visitors would be allowed to drive their vehicles into the campus. “

The memo warned: “Any student who violates this directive, which is in the interest of the University community, shall face severe disciplinary action.”

The Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, had last week issued a similar directive banning students from driving their private cars into the campus, a directive interpreted as a measure of curbing obscene display of affluence by students.
