Buhari to drop some ministers in planned cabinet reshuffle

There are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari is seriously considering reshuffling the Federal cabinet, which will culminate in the dropping of some ministers.

This was the fallout of his meeting with members of the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which took place in Abuja on Tuesday.

Buhari’s thinking is to have expand his cabinet above the current 36 members, which is a reflection of the 36 states of the Federation.

Sources said Buhari will drop some ministers and appoint their replacements.

Buhari was said to have observed that the current Federal Executive Council is compact, noting however that he would expand it to accommodate fresh ideas and fresh blood.

A source quoted the President as telling party leaders that, “By the Grace of God, these appointments will be announced soon, especially now that the economy is improving.

Also present at the meeting were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Others included the leadership of the National Assembly who are the party members.
