A presidential aspirant and former Chairman of Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, has urged Nigerians to be hopeful for the rebirth of a new Nigeria, stressing that God has plans for the country.
Ohuabunawa spoke at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos, Wednesday, when the Coalition of All Nigeria Support Groups (COANG) led by its National Chairman, Comrade Mark Iheanyi and members of New Nigeria Group (NNG) welcomed him from the United Kingdom.
The technocrat said: “My message for Nigerians is that they should be hopeful, watchful and also working because it is in our hands and God has revealed what he wants to do. So it is in our hands to work with God to take it. If we are complacent and participate in the old methods of doing things, we will go nowhere; we will end up right back from where we started.”
He said the NNG, a political change agent he founded, has come with the concept of sacrificial politics, politics of idea and ideology. “We have a concept of politics that is focused just for the good of the people of Nigeria and not for our individual groups. All of us in this group are sacrificing our money to do what we need to do to get to a new country. We should have hope and also be prepared to take the bull by the horn,” he said.
The former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria said Nigeria is going through a transition, pointing out that the old Nigeria is about to expire and a new Nigeria on its way.
“A new Nigeria is going to rise from the ashes of the old Nigeria. The decayed 61 years old Nigeria that has refused to rise; a giant that is walking with clay feet, and an adult that is behaving like a toddler, that is what our country is,” he said.
Ohuabunwa said he would run for president on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that his chances are high because one with God is majority.
“My chances are high because some people are trusting in their horses and others are trusting in their chariots but we are trusting in the name of our Lord. I don’t think that any power is bigger than the power of God. He is the owner of the gold, the silver and the cattle on a thousand hills.
“He owns the earth and gives the kingdom to whoever wants. The days of wickedness are over and we are now in a new era where God is in control,” Ohuabunwa said.
He added, “The chances of the PDP are brighter now than ever because Nigerians have tried another party and they have seen the difference between June and July. When you try something and you think that it is not good enough and you decide to try something else, you discover that the new one is worse than the one you had before.”
