The Women in PENGASSAN (WIP), Lagos zone, has donated educational materials to two public schools in Lagos as part of its ‘Back to School Project’.
According to the chairperson, Comrade Nikki Duru, the association was at Lagos Mainland Primary School, Ebute Metta west on October 28, where it distributed exercise books, stationeries, lunch boxes, sets of mathematical instruments, pencil cases, among other items, to the pupils.
It was the turn of pupils of RCM Primary School, Awoyaya, Ibeji- Lekki on October 29, where the association did similarly.
According to Comrade Nikki Duru, the association embarked upon the exercise to give hope and succour to the indigent children.
In their responses, staff and pupils of both schools thanked the PENGASSAN for the gesture, and called on more organisations to emulate the WIP Lagos zone.
Some of the dignitaries that witnessed the occasion included the Baale of Awoyaya, Onibeju Wasiu Olamilekan, Education Secretary, Ibeji-Lekki LGA, Chief Shina Eletu.
Others are Chief Ogulana, Chief Taoreed Eletu, SBMC Chairman and Comrade Eyam Abeng, Chairman, PENGASSAN, Lagos zone, who represented Comrade Festus Osifo, the National President of PENGASSAN.
