Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its presidential ticket to the South-east.
Ikpeazu explained that the South-east has not produced Nigeria’s president hence PDP should give its ticket to the zone.
He also noted that zoning the presidential ticket to the South-east is the right thing to do, in the spirit of fairness and justice.
Ikpeazu argued that with PDP zoning its Chairmanship to the North, the presidential slot should go to the South-east.
“Our zoning options have been spelt out by the PDP and it says that the chairmanship of the party should go to the North in 2023.
“As an individual, I feel that the weight of equity and justice favours the president from the South and when we come to the South, we find out which zone has not yet produced the president and give the ticket to that zone,” he reportedly said.
The former ruling party had last week zoned its National Chairmanship to the North.
PDP had taken the decision at its National Executive Council meeting (NEC) in Abuja.
