Hardship as Abuja residents suffer massive power outage, acute water shortage

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are literally gnashing their teeth in the wake of a recent power outage and water shortage in the last couple of days.

About two weeks ago, that there was massive water shortage and by last Thursday, Abuja Water Board announced another round of scarcity of water, which commenced 12 midnight on Friday.

The following day (Friday), Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) announced that there will be power outage which affected more than 25 areas across the territory.

Some Abuja residents, who could not hide their anger, rained unprintable curses on the government, over the matter.

For example, Mr Fatai Abdulkareem said: ”If government can’t provide us basic necessities, such as light and water, they should just tell us they have failed.

“Already there’s too much hunger in the land, and the number one citizen is on medical tourism abroad.

“How long will this suffering continue when government has maintained deaf ears to our plight?”

He further stressed that “the last time we had water shortage they promised to fix the trunk line and now we are back to the terrible situation that we have to buy a Jerry can of water for N250.

Another resident of Kubwa spoke in a similar vein condemning the government with unprintable graffiti.

He said:  “Do we have a government that listens? Please stop bothering me with questions that will not generate any tangible answer from a non-existent government.

The power outage and massive water shortage has entered day three without any solution in sight.
