* Advocates equal opportunity for indigenes, non-indigenes of Enugu State
The former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has indicated his intention to vie for the office of governor of Enugu State in 2023.
The former Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, while addressing members of a support group for his 2023 governorship ambition – Door2Door Support 4 Sen. Ike Ekweremadu – who came to sympathize with him on the death of his brother, reiterated his commitment towards giving everybody equal opportunity to succeed under his watch post 2023 polls.
The Senator maintained that a new era is about to emerge whereby any indigene of Anambra or Imo State resident in Enugu State for a long time will be able to work in Enugu and as well as contest for any political position.
He cited examples with U.S, U.K, Italy and so on, where Nigerians have been elected into their parliaments.
Ekweremadu promised to change the narrative so that any resident of Enugu, whether an indigene or not, but has contributed positively towards the growth and development of the State, will have equal opportunity for employment, admission, political positions etc as every Onye Enugu State.
He expressed gratitude to his guests for standing with him and his family in their moment of grief occasioned by the death of his younger brother, Mathias Ekweremadu.
