President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to be patient with his administration’s fight against criminality, assuring that major shipments of military hardware and aircraft from Jordan, China and the United States will soon arrive the country.
Buhari, who made this known through his official Twitter account, also said patience is needed for the armed forces to receive appropriate training when the new equipment arrive.
He said his administration is doing all that is necessary to defeat banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other forms of criminality in the country.
The president further disclosed that he met with the Heads of security and intelligence agencies, and members of the Security Committee of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, where it was resolved that states and the Federal Government have to form a synergy, to successfully tackle insecurity in the country.
“It was an opportunity to share notes and ideas. We are also aware of the areas that need improvement, including synergy, and intelligence-gathering. I am glad that we are seeing better synergy and cooperation”, Buhari tweeted.
The president said he has directed the Service Chiefs to meet among themselves, in-between the National Security Council meetings to improve intelligence-gathering, interpretation and sharing.
