In what appears a test of popularity, the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has amassed much solidarity visits by people of all classes and creed, one week after being released from the Kuje Correctional Facility in Abuja.

Senator Kalu, on Monday, received in audience the leadership of the House of Representatives, which paid him a solidarity visit at his Abuja home.

The lawmakers were led by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase.

The lawmakers arrived at Kalu’s residence about 11.50am.

The delegation comprised the Deputy Chief, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; spokesman of the House, Hon. Benjamin Kalu; Majority Leader, Hon. Alhasan Doguwa and others.

The visit was said to be in solidarity with the Abia North Senator, who recently regained his freedom from a wrongful incarceration.

He was ordered to be released by a Federal High Court in Lagos, which found merit in his application to be set free, against the backdrop of the Supreme Court judgement nullifying the 12 years sentence slammed on him by a lower court in December last year.

Also on similar solidarity visit was a delegation from Bende Local Government Area in Abia North Senatorial District, Kalu’s constituency at the National Assembly.

Since being released last week, the Senator has received countless number of visitors including the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, Senator Rochas Okorocha and wife Nkechi, among several others.
