The member representing Arochukwu /Ohafia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Uko Nkole, has attributed the absence of the Covid-19 disease in Abia State to the grace of God upon Abians, and the proactive actions of the government.
Hon Nkole made the commendation while interacting with newsmen after handing over cartons of noodles, bags of rice, hand sanitizers, cash and other relief materials to the leadership of National Association of Nigeria Students in Arochukwu /Ohafia Federal constituency to cushion the effects of the lock down.
Other beneficiaries of the palliative include town unions of the various clans in the constituency, as well as and security agencies in the zone, namely the Army, Police, DSS and Civil Defence. The lawmaker also extended his benevolence to inmates of the prison.
He commended the Federal government and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the proactive measures they have instituted to fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
The lawmaker also lauded the Abia State Inter-ministerial Committee on Covid-19 for a job well done so far in distributing relief materials to Abians, pointing out that contrary to insinuations, the 5G mobile phone network is an upgrade to serve the world better.
He announced that efforts are on, to establish Songhai Farms in the constituency, which would provide about one hundred jobs to the people.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Mr. Chibuzo Ndom, noted that apart from the governor, Hon Uko Nkole is the first to reach out to Nigerian students this period of the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, adding that the gesture will reduce to a great extent the pressure on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and his administration.
Ndom called on other politicians irrespective of party affiliation to emulate the Hon Nkole’s gesture by reaching out to their constituents in this trying period.
He assured the lawmaker of the support of Abia students, describing him as a true representative of his people.
The Abia Zonal representatives of NANS, Frank Orji, had thanked the Federal lawmaker for remembering the student community in their trying period, and urged him to continue in that manner.
The lawmaker had earlier received in audience a delegation from Ahuma Abam, which came to thank him for bringing electricity to the community for the first time in history.
