A devastating defeat and embarrassment await Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his supporters in Anambra State and all over Nigeria on January 16, 2027, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Works, Okey Ezeobi, said the existing synergy between Soludo’s administration and President Bola Tinubu’s government is due to what he described as the Federal government’s “significant investments” in Anambra State.
Speaking at the formal inauguration of the Anambra State NDC 2027 Campaign in Awka, the coordinator and former member of the House of Representatives, Ifeanyi Ibezi, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be woefully disappointed if it is banking on rigging or any form of malpractice.
Ibezi said the NDC is committed to an open, fair and credible election, and would frustrate any form of untoward act by the APC or any other paid agent or group.
On the increasing popularity/national acceptance of the NDC’s presidential flag-bearer Peter Obi, he said Obi and his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, have already secured over 70 per cent of Nigerian voters ahead of the January poll.
He noted that the former governor’s socio-economic philosophy resonates with Nigerians across age groups, genders, social classes, and geographical zones, attracting followers nationwide.
Also, the NDC State Chairman, Ikem Uzoezie, who inaugurated the campaign council, charged members to kick-start a unique, aggressive door-to-door grassroots mobilisation and voter sensitisation to ensure victory for all NDC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
However, Ezeobi told journalists that the level of federal presence in the South-East, particularly Anambra, is “unprecedented,” arguing that Tinubu’s administration has done for the region what successive previous governments failed to accomplish.
He listed, among others, the dualisation of Oba to Okigwe and Otuocha to Abaji as projects approved by the Federal government, arguing that when completed, one could travel to Abuja from Awka and return the same day.
