Insecurity: Tinubu has 4 months to pack out of Aso Rock Villa, says PRP

The Peoples’ Redemption Party (PRP) has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over continued killings and abductions in different parts of Nigeria, accusing the government of failing to protect lives and property.

The party said the worsening security situation demonstrates what it described as the government’s incompetence and lack of concern for the suffering of affected communities.

In a statement by its National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the PRP called on Nigerians to speak out against the violence and demand urgent measures to end the attacks.

The party listed Kwara, Niger, Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Borno, Plateau and Yobe as some of the states badly affected by insecurity. It said armed groups and other criminals continue to attack communities without facing adequate resistance.

The PRP accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government of relying on public statements and promises instead of taking effective action to protect residents in affected areas.

“The scale of the killings and abductions of helpless citizens and the rising impunity of their tormentors suggests that Nigerians live in a lawless country,” the statement said.

The party also raised concerns about the burden on military personnel and local volunteers involved in efforts to confront armed groups.

According to the PRP, the persistent violence has disrupted livelihoods and worsened the economic conditions of millions of Nigerians.

It further alleged that the government is spending excessive public funds on securing political support while citizens remain exposed to security threats. However, the party did not provide details or evidence to support the claim.

The PRP maintained that Nigerians should not have to wait until the end of Tinubu’s tenure in May 2027 before demanding meaningful improvements in security.

Baba-Ahmed said the president still has a responsibility to fulfil his constitutional and official obligations to Nigerians.

“President Tinubu still has four months to go before his defeat. He has a responsibility to live up to his oath to protect the lives and welfare of Nigerians,” he said.

He urged Tinubu to take responsibility for tackling the crisis and ensure that urgent steps are taken to prevent further killings and abductions.

The party called for decisive action to restore safety in affected communities and protect Nigerians from further attacks.
