There was panic on Wednesday as a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter made an emergency landing on a farmland in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The helicopter reportedly developed a technical fault mid-air, forcing the pilot to bring it down at Utur Tse-Igboji, Bar Council Ward, on the Welfare Quarters–Mopol 13 Ring Road.
The incident comes just two days after a NAF aircraft crashed in Ondo State, killing 25 persons.
An eyewitness, Stephen Ikpam, said the aircraft suddenly began to struggle in the air before descending onto the farmland.
Residents were said to have rushed to the scene to assist the crew.
All personnel on board were said to have survived the emergency landing.
The NAF has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
