Drama turned to horror at Badawa Quarters in Kano after a 25-year-old woman allegedly severed her boyfriend’s genitals with a sharp knife for daring to marry another woman.
The suspect, Maimuna Idris, a resident of Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has now been remanded by a Kano Magistrate Court.
Idris is facing a two-count charge of attempted culpable homicide and causing grievous hurt.
The prosecution counsel, H.A. Sani-Buhari, told the court that the gory incident happened on July 27, 2026.
According to him, the Badawa Police Division received a distress report from the management of Durbar Hotel at about 12:50 p.m. that a man, identified as Ashiru Sani, had been brutally attacked by his girlfriend.
Sani-Buhari alleged that earlier, at about 11am, Idris had lured the victim and, in a fit of jealous rage after discovering his plan to marry another woman, used a sharp knife to cut off his manhood.
The victim was left in a pool of blood and was rushed to the Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital in Kano where doctors are battling to save his life.
In court, the defendant pleaded guilty to the charges.
The prosecution said her alleged offences contravene Sections 229 and 248 of the Penal Code.
After listening to the proceedings, Magistrate Sadiya Usman ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre.
The case was adjourned for further legal action.
