A four-storey building under construction has collapsed on Ogbalu Street, Independence Layout in Enugu.
Workers were reportedly sleeping at the site when the structure came down on Sunday morning.
Reports said four workers were rescued, while one body has been recovered.
The State Capital Territory says the rescued workers are receiving treatment at the Enugu State Teaching Hospital, while one of the six persons who were sleeping at the site had stepped out before the incident occurred.
NEMA, the Red Cross, SEMA, the Enugu State Capital Territory Development Authority and the Police are currently involved in the rescue operation.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be established, as concerns grow over building safety and regulatory enforcement
